Ceramica Float Valve (Grey Square Float) — 3/8" BSP
The Ceramica 3/8" float valve is an authentic replacement filling valve engineered specifically for Ceramica and compatible concealed cistern units. Featuring the distinctive grey square float design, this valve slots directly into the existing white factory retention bracket located at the rear interior of the cistern tank. It provides a clean hydraulic shut-off to eliminate slow-filling issues and prevent persistent water trickling into the toilet pan.
Identification & Technical Guide:
Brand: Ceramica | MPN: Unconfirmed (Supplied as Ceramica 3/8 Grey Float Valve) | Internal Reference: FTB-CERAM-38FV | Thread / Size: 3/8" BSP Male (~16.6mm Physical Thread OD) | Mounting Style: Rear Tank Clip-In (White Retention Bracket) | Float Type: Enclosed Grey Square Chamber
Key Features
- Direct Bracket Fitment: Molded lateral tabs click directly into the existing internal white mounting bracket fixed to the rear wall of the cistern.
- Standard 3/8" BSP Connection: Fitted with an industry-standard 3/8" BSP male threaded tail (~16.6mm outside diameter) for European flexible water supply connections.
- Distinctive Grey Square Float: Enclosed buoyant chamber provides balanced vertical floatation without fouling against internal flush mechanisms.
- Hydraulic Positive Cut-Off: Diaphragm-driven seal shuts incoming mains pressure rapidly once target water line is reached, preventing internal overflows.
- Corrosion-Proof Polymers: Manufactured from chemical- and limescale-resistant thermoplastics for extended operational service life.
Installation & Compatibility Notes
Thread Sizing Warning (3/8" BSP vs 1/2" BSP): This valve features a European-specification 3/8" BSP thread (~16.6mm actual outer diameter). It is NOT a standard UK 1/2" BSP thread (~20.9mm OD). If connecting to a standard UK 1/2" tap connector or supply line, a 3/8" male to 1/2" female BSP brass adaptor bush is required.
Mounting Check: This valve is intended solely for cisterns featuring the internal rear-wall white slide bracket. Ensure your old valve uses the grey square float body before purchase, as round-float models use different bracket spacing.
Fitting Advice: Isolate the water supply before removal. Disconnect the flexible inlet hose, release the retaining clip on the white bracket, and lift the old valve vertically out. Slide the replacement down until it clicks securely into place. Hand-tighten the inlet union nut, followed by a quarter-turn with a spanner.
