Alcaplast A160UNI Universal Side Entry Cistern Fill Valve — Metal Thread
The Alcaplast A160UNI (Alcadrain) is a heavy-duty, universal side-entry cistern inlet valve engineered to fit ceramic and plastic toilet cisterns. Featuring a durable nickel-plated metal shank and an interchangeable threaded adaptor, it connects seamlessly to both European 3/8" BSP feeds and standard UK 1/2" BSP tap connectors. Certified to Acoustic Group I, this valve dampens water flow to maintain quiet refilling under 20 dB while preventing cross-threading damage during installation.
Identification Guide:
MPN: A160UNI | Manufacturer: Alcaplast / Alcadrain | Inlet Orientation: Side Entry (Left or Right hand mount) | Thread Size: Metal 3/8" BSP with included Metal 1/2" BSP Adaptor | Acoustic Class: Acoustic Group I (< 20 dB at 3 bar) | Working Pressure: 0.05 – 16 bar | Standard: EN 14124 | Contents: Valve assembly, metal 1/2" adaptor nut, plastic backnut, sealing washer, and internal mesh filter.
Key Features
- Dual 3/8" & 1/2" Compatibility: Supplied with an engineered metal adaptor collar to fit standard UK 1/2" tap feeds as well as continental 3/8" supply nuts.
- Cross-Thread Protection: Nickel-plated brass shank prevents stripped threads or cross-threading when connecting metal supply pipes and braided hoses.
- Acoustic Group I Performance: Low-noise design suppresses water inflow turbulence to below 20 dB for quiet operation.
- Wide Pressure Suitability: Functions reliably across low-pressure gravity systems (down to 0.05 bar) up to high-pressure mains supplies (16 bar).
- Threaded Float Adjustment: Allows precise, stepless calibration of the cistern water line with a manual adjustment screw.
- Inlet Silt Trap: Built-in internal mesh strainer protects internal valve components from grit and limescale particles.
Installation & Fitment Advice
Fits standard side-entry apertures on both left-hand and right-hand cistern walls. For standard UK installations, screw the included metal 1/2" adaptor nut onto the 3/8" shank before attaching your 1/2" supply pipe. Position the rubber sealing washer on the inside of the cistern wall and tighten the securing backnut hand-tight plus a half-turn with a spanner. Do not overtighten against ceramic surfaces.
