Armitage Shanks / Ideal Standard – QT (Quarter-Turn) Univalve Diaphragm Washer — 32 mm (1¼″) — SV32967
Replacement diaphragm/washer for the newer QT (Quarter-Turn) Univalve. This valve releases with a ~45° twist. If your valve has a screw-cap top that fully unscrews, you need the older Hushflow/UV washer instead (FTB323).
Key features
- Fits the QT / Quarter-Turn Univalve (twist-lock body).
- Base with outer rim + inner rim (double ring underside).
- Size: 32 mm (1¼″).
- Quick home repair: cures slow fill or constant running after replacement.
- Earlier washers sometimes had 18 ridges — replacement is now smooth.
- Pin insert colour may vary — has no effect on function.
- Supplied as 1 × diaphragm/washer (no other parts included).
How to confirm it’s the right one
Your valve | Washer base | Order this |
---|---|---|
Quarter-turn twist-lock top (releases with ~45° turn) | Shaped base with outer rim + inner rim | SV32967 (this item) — FTB2654 |
Screw-cap top (unscrews fully to access diaphragm) | Flat base with single outer rim | See Hushflow/UV washer page (SV21267 — FTB323) |
Tip: turn your old diaphragm over — this QT version has a visible extra inner rim. The older Hushflow/UV washer does not.
Specification
- Part code: SV32967 (QT Univalve washer)
- Diameter: 32 mm (1¼″)
- Material: Rubber diaphragm
- Compatibility: Armitage Shanks / Ideal Standard QT Univalve inlet valves
- Pack contents: 1 × diaphragm/washer
What fails & the symptoms
- Perished diaphragm (split or hardened) → cistern won’t fill correctly.
- Washer stretched with grooves → intermittent filling or dripping into pan.
- Wrong washer fitted → valve body won’t seal, poor performance.
Quick check: this QT washer has an extra inner rim underneath. The older UV washer (FTB323) has only the outer rim.
Fitting notes (at your own discretion)
- Isolate water, flush to empty the cistern.
- Quarter-turn the valve top anti-clockwise (~45°) to release.
- Lift out the old diaphragm; clean the seating and shroud.
- Fit the new diaphragm with rim seated correctly; reassemble and twist-lock closed.
- Restore water supply and test fill. Reseat if needed.
Installation should be undertaken by a competent person. If unsure, consult a plumber.
Questions & Answers
How do I tell if I have QT or UV?
If the valve releases with a 45° twist, you need this QT washer (FTB2654). If the valve unscrews fully like a cap, you need the older UV washer (FTB323).
Does the pin colour matter?
No. Pin colours vary (red, white, mixed) but do not affect performance.
Why did my old washer have ridges?
Early QT diaphragms had 18 ridges. The updated version is smooth but fits the same valve.
Will this fix running water or slow filling?
Yes — those are classic signs of a worn diaphragm. Replacing with SV32967 usually restores proper fill.
I’ve fitted this and it still dribbles — what next?
Re-seat the washer carefully, ensure the twist-lock top is closed squarely, and check for grit. If you actually have the older screw-cap style valve, you’ll need the UV washer (FTB323) instead.
